DDA provides update on monthly meeting

ALPENA, Mich. — The Downtown Development Authority held their monthly meeting with the Board of Directors and discussed resignations from board members, the Downtown Dollars program, and revisited their by–laws.

The DDA discussed the resignations from various board members and reviewed applications from three potential new board members.

The board also reviewed the first week of the Downtown Dollars program, which seemed to be a success.  According to DDA Executive Director, Anne Gentry, one thousand bonus dollars were issued equating to $5,000 in sales.  Gentry added that not only has this promotion been good for downtown businesses, but many downtown employers are doing great things for their employees with the bonus dollars.

The board also discussed forming a committee to review the DDA’s by-laws, which will cover policies related to attendance, operations, and board composition.
