ALPENA, Mich. — An outbreak of COVID–19 has hit the Alpena County Jail.
Sheriff Steve Kieliszewski said several staff members and inmates tested positive for the virus over the weekend.
He said infected staff were sent home to quarantine.
Meanwhile, remaining staff is testing the inmates for the virus. The jail will isolate COVID–positive inmates and monitor their vitals until they’re no longer contagious.
Kieliszewski told WBKB it’s unclear how the virus spread within the building.
