Cool temperatures Saturday-Sunday; More sunshine early next week

High temperatures today reached 40 degrees in Alpena, nearly 15 degrees colder than yesterday. Winds out of the west at 10-15 mph are bringing colder air out of the Upper Plains.

Skies remained cloudy today with occasional flurries. Any remaining light snow over Northern Michigan is expected to weaken later tonight. The weekend will feature mostly cloudy skies but generally dry weather.

Temperatures will continue to cool going into Saturday. Low temperatures tonight will drop to the upper teens. High temperatures tomorrow will reach only the upper 20s combined with a breeze out of the northwest about 10-15 mph. Temperatures on Sunday should get a few degrees warmer.

After we bundle up tomorrow with colder air overhead, temperatures will reach the 30s on Sunday on Monday. Warmer air arrives on Tuesday as high temperatures reach 40 degrees, and lower 40s are expected for daily high temperatures during the middle of next week.

We will remain under plenty of cloud cover over the weekend, mostly cloudy skies are forecast for both Saturday and Sunday. Early Sunday, low temperatures will drop to 12 degrees providing a cool start, then highs will reach around 35 degrees. Although temperatures remain cool on Monday, much more sunshine is expected, and we will also see some sunshine on Tuesday.
