Cool and showery midweek, also possible snow!?

For a change, Tuesday, some of the warmest temperatures across Northern Michigan were in our neck of the woods. The high got up to 58 degrees in Alpena. But take a look to the northwest of our area, some colder temperatures will be moving in our direction. Highs today reached only 45 degrees in Marquette, Michigan and a chilly 36 degrees in Duluth, Minnesota.

An area of low pressure near the Minnesota-Canada border will keep our weather showery, going through to the middle of the week. Additionally, cold air is wrapping around the backside of this low pressure system, where winds are coming out of the north or northwest. Scattered rain showers are expected to develop Wednesday. Then Wednesday night, it could get cold enough for some places in northern Michigan to see snow mixing in.

Wednesday night, places west of M-65 will have a better chance of seeing some snow showers mixing in. Any snow that forms Wednesday night will melt Thursday. Overnight temperatures will become a little colder for areas well west of Lake Huron. Temperatures near the Lake Huron shoreline might remain marginally too warm to really notice any snow.

Wednesday, rain will likely not be constant or all-day, but there will be a good chance of seeing a few scattered showers. A few isolated showers with some breaks of dry weather are expected Thursday. A prolonged stretch of dry weather should begin Friday.

Wednesday: Scattered showers (possible rain/snow mix or snow showers to the west of Alpena at night). Predawn temperatures will begin near 35 degrees. Afternoon highs will be around 46 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool to the upper/middle 30s.

Thursday: Isolated shower possible, remains cool. Early-morning lows will drop to the lower 30s. Afternoon highs will reach close to 47 degrees. Evening temperatures will be in the lower 40s to near 40 degrees.

Friday: Drier, mostly cloudy and not as chilly. Early-morning temperatures will be in the middle 30s. During the late-afternoon, temperatures will rise to highs near 53 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool to the 40s.
