Cool and dry tomorrow; Milder as of Wednesday

A weak cold front came through Northern Michigan late last night, producing colder temperatures today combined with winds out of the northwest about 15 mph (occasionally gusting to about 25 mph). Highs reached lower and middle 30s, compared to the middle 40s reached yesterday. Similar afternoon temperatures are expected tomorrow.

Cloudy skies have lasted all day long, though some of the cloud cover should break apart early tomorrow. A high pressure system is currently located over Northern Minnesota, and will partially clear the skies tomorrow. Dry weather will continue through Wednesday.

Overnight lows will cool to around 20 degrees under mostly cloudy skies and light winds. Skies will become partly cloudy early tomorrow, and highs will reach the lower and middle 30s with a breeze out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.

No rainfall or snowfall is forecast through the middle of the week. Then, a system currently affecting the Pacific Northwest will travel east across the country, bringing a chance of rain to our area beginning on Thursday. That chance of rain will increase Friday, although the precipitation type will likely change to snow Friday afternoon as colder air enters from the north.

Partly cloudy skies and somewhat cool temperatures are forecast tomorrow, with highs around 33 degrees. Temperatures predawn Wednesday will cool to a low in the mid-20s, then warm to a high of 40 degrees Wednesday afternoon with mostly cloudy skies. After that, a chance of rain will begin Thursday midday with highs close to 40 degrees. Highs should reach the upper 30s on Friday with rain changing to snow, then colder temperatures are expected for the upcoming weekend.
