Cooking Class Held at Senior Citizens Center to Make Microwaving Meals Easy

Cooking as a senior or just for anyone can be a headache sometimes. That’s why Pampered Chef, Jess Krawczak by the Alpena Senior Citizens Center once a month to show quick techniques seniors can use for healthy meals, that are convenient for seniors.

The center already offers lunch and dinner, but what about the most important meal of the day, breakfast. A lot of times seniors will miss out on breakfast because of all of the activities it comes with to prep a meal.

When it comes to cooking as a senior a lot of injuries can happen, that’s why safety is key. With the use of microwaves, seniors don’t have to worry about turning on an oven, which could lead to a fire if they forget to turn it off.

Krawczak also talked about using oil alternatives to remain heart healthy. Another key factoring demonstrated during the cooking class was sodium intake. Krawczak said natural flavor was key instead of using a saltshaker.
