Construction on Alpena County Jail set to finish this fall
ALPENA, Mich. — The jail reconstruction project was a hot topic in 2019. Alpena County Sheriffs say the project is still underway and on track to be completed on time.
Inclement weather in November temporarily delayed the process of laying the foundation, but the timeline is now back on track. County Jail Administrator, Scott Gagnon, told us the contractors are putting up steel panels on the outside of the structure to enclose the facility.
When that process is complete at the beginning of February, materials will be laid underground for utility services. The county is keeping community members informed throughout the process on www.alpenacountyjail.com where you can find periodic updates.
The project is expected to be complete in November of this year.
