ALPENA, Mich. –Governor Gretchen Whitmer announces an award of 12.7 million dollars to projects across the State of Michigan to increase broadband internet access. The funds issued through Connecting Michigan Communities will help underserved communities access high–speed internet.
Residents who lack access to broadband are unable to access virtual learning, participate in telehealth, or telework.
According to Governor Whitmer, this critical service is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
The projects will extend access to over 10,000 households, businesses, and other institutions in Michigan.
