Community Turns Out for Local Car Show

ALPENA, Mich.–Overcast skies weren’t enough to discourage car fans and community members from coming downtown on Saturday morning.

From 8 to 11 A.M, “Coffee and Cars” attendees admired classic and modern cars over a cup of joe.

Bruce Johnson, who displayed a pristine Buick LeSabre, said he enjoys coming to car shows for the memories.

“[Seeing cars] kinda triggers memories that, you know, from cars they’ve had in the past, or maybe some relative or their father or whoever. [That person] may have had a car like that and they have a lot of memories, so it’s a trip down memory lane when they see them.”

Every car has a story, and if you’d like to hear these stories for yourself, the D.D.A. has one more show planned this month. The next “Coffee and Cars” will be in Downtown Alpena on Saturday, July 25, from 8 to 11 A.M. Biggby’s Coffee and Cabin Creek will both be participating. Attendees are required to wear masks when indoors, and asked to stay at least six feet apart when possible.
