Commencement for Alpena High School finalized
ALPENA, Mich – What started out as disappointment for the 2020 graduation season is now replaced by a plan to recognize seniors in several different ways.
School Principal Thomas Berriman said they have moved forward with as close to a traditional commencement ceremony as possible involving staff recorded farewell messages and speeches from students.
The virtual graduation is set to take place on May 31, at Alpena High School and on May 29, they will hold a Friday night salute.
The Friday night salute will entail the stadium lights and scoreboard being turned on showing slides of each graduating student.
Berriman says it is heartbreaking that his students didn’t even get a last day of school but he wants them to stay encouraged.
