Colder temperatures for Veterans Day; Bright skies Thursday

Air masses are sharply divided across the Midwest. The high in Alpena got up to 74 degrees! It was another record-breaking day, the old record for Nov. 10 was 71 degrees set in 2016. Contrast that with 31 degrees for the high in Minneapolis. That colder air will move into our area over the next 24-48 hours.

An incoming storm system located over southern Wisconsin will bring rain to Northeast Michigan this evening, some of the rain could be heavy around 11 p.m. or midnight. The cold front extending from this low pressure system will introduce a return to more November-like temperatures, much colder temperatures will begin Wednesday.

Temperatures will drop to the lower 40s Wednesday morning. For Veterans Day commemorations, the temperature at 11 a.m. will be in the middle 40s with partly cloudy skies. A noticeable breeze will be coming from the west at 15-20 mph.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy and colder. Temperatures will drop to the lower 40s in the morning. Afternoon highs will climb only to about 47 degrees. Evening temperatures will dip to the upper 30s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with a cool morning. Early-morning temperatures will start close to 30 degrees. Late-morning temperatures will rise to the lower 40s. Afternoon highs will reach around 51 degrees. Evening temperatures will head into the lower 40s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy and breezy. Morning temperatures will cool to the middle 30s. Temperatures won’t climb much, only in the lower 40s during the afternoon. Evening temperatures will go into the middle/lower 30s.
