Colder temperatures begin tomorrow; Fall starts Saturday

It was another warm September day that felt like summer, a breeze out of the southwest brought warm temperatures as the high reached 88 degrees in Alpena. A cold front is on our doorstep which will immediately be followed by colder temperatures, high temperatures today only reached 70 degrees in Duluth and 63 degrees in Bismarck.

Farther south along that cold front, there is a complex of showers and thunderstorms in western Wisconsin. These showers will weaken as they move east, though an isolated showers around our area cannot be ruled out tomorrow.

The moisture associated with the remnants of (formerly Hurricane) Florence is heading from Pennsylvania into upstate New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Widespread Flash Flood Watches have been issued for these areas. The Flash Flood Watches will gradually end from south to north as the storm system progresses towards the Northeast.

Lows tonight will drop to the mid-50s, then temperatures will not move much into the morning hours. By the afternoon, the high will reach only into the upper 60s under mostly cloudy skies.

Tomorrow should end up being mostly dry, despite a low chance of isolated showers in the morning and afternoon. Colder temperatures with highs ranging from the mid-60s to lower 70s will last all week long. Widespread rain will move in late Wednesday night-early Thursday, then clear out in time for the first day of fall on Saturday.
