Colder air rushes in during early mornings of the next few days

High temperatures today were reached before a cold front moved through Northern Michigan. Temperatures got up to 75 degrees in Alpena, 74 degrees in Traverse City, Mich., and 79 degrees in Saginaw, Mich. Notice the colder temperatures in the Upper Peninsula where highs reached only 63 degrees in Houghton, Mich. and 60 degrees in Ironwood, Mich. Winds from the north will bring in colder temperatures for the next couple of days.

Temperatures early Thursday will fall to about 40 degrees. Highs Thursday afternoon will reach the upper 50s. Early Friday, temperatures will cool to the middle 30s. Temperatures will only get to the middle 50s Friday afternoon. The coldest temperatures will arrive early Saturday, dropping to about 30 degrees (most areas will likely start the weekend below freezing)! Highs Saturday afternoon will reach about 60 degrees – the beginning of a warming trend that will continue early next week.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and colder. Predawn temperatures will start around 40 degrees. Late-morning temperatures will rise to about 50 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach about 59 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the lower 50s.

Friday: Another bright day with a cold morning. Predawn temperatures will be in the middle 30s. Temperatures will rise to the upper 40s in the late-morning. Afternoon highs will only be around 56 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be near 50 degrees.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and very (very) cold early. Predawn temperatures will start close to 30 degrees! Late-morning temperatures will be in the middle 40s. Afternoon highs will be around 60 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the lower 60s.
