Cold, winter-like temperatures tonight; Warmer end of the week

Scattered snow showers off of Lake Michigan have fallen across Northeast Michigan with morning temperatures that started in the 30s and winds out of the northwest about 15 mph. Hardly any evidence of snow remains on the ground, as afternoon highs reached the mid-40s.

The coldest air across the Midwest is bottled up over Northern Michigan, where high temperatures only reached the 30s and 40s. Much warmer air is just to our southwest, where high temperatures today reached the 60s in St. Louis, Omaha, and Rapid City. Significantly warmer temperatures will move into Northeast Michigan Thursday afternoon, lasting through Friday.

Low temperatures tonight will drop to the upper 20s, then temperatures will hover around 30 degrees tomorrow morning. Afternoon highs will warm to around 50 degrees under plenty of blue skies and a light breeze out of the southwest.

Dry weather is expected overnight, tomorrow, and early Friday. The chance of rain will increase Friday afternoon, reaching its highest Friday evening. A lower chance of showers will linger on Saturday, and Sunday will likely be the dry day this weekend.

For Thursday, plenty of sunshine will brighten the sky, but the morning will start with chilly temperatures in the upper 20s, then warming to 50 degrees in the afternoon. Showers will enter by late Friday with highs warming to 57 degrees. Cooler temperatures will return this weekend with a chance of showers on Saturday and afternoon highs in the 40s.
