Cloudy and cool Thursday; A little warmer Friday

Today’s high temperature in Alpena was 42 degrees, and that turns out to be one of the warmer readings across the state. We’re on the cold side of a nearly-stationary boundary that is dividing temperatures in the 60s and 70s compared to the 30s and 40s over the Great Lakes. In contrast, Chicago had a high of 61 degrees.

The stationary boundary is also providing a few rain and snow showers to its east. Some of those have been moving through Lower Michigan, and passing through areas southwest of Alpena. Dry conditions will move in tonight although plenty of cloud cover will linger Thurdsay.

Overnight lows will cool to about 27 degrees. Morning temperatures will be in the lower 30s. We will have mostly cloudy skies, and highs will reach about 41 degrees. A breeze will come from the east about 10-15 mph.

Finally, we have an outdoor activity planner with no inclement weather showing up. Thursday will be a little cool, but otherwise conditions will be fine for spending some time outdoors late this week and into the weekend. The brightest days will be Friday and Sunday.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the lower 40s. Friday will be slightly warmer, highs will climb to the upper 40s with partly cloudy skies. Saturday is looking mostly cloudy with highs around 50 degrees.
