Clearing skies with a warming trend

High temperatures today ranged from the lower 50s at the Lake Huron shoreline to lower 60s farther west. A breeze out of the east kept temperatures cooler lakeside. Highs reached 61 degrees at Alpena airport, 55 degrees in Oscoda and 63 degrees in Mio.

We are still seeing cloudy skies over Lower Michigan, although clearing is already underway in the Upper Peninsula. Skies will become mostly clear overnight. Plenty of sunshine is in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.

Low temperatures overnight will be near 44 degrees. Morning temperatures will get to about 50 degrees with mostly clear skies. Wednesday afternoon, highs will reach 65 degrees in Alpena. A light breeze from the southeast will keep afternoon temperatures slightly cooler at the shoreline, although locations farther inland could get close to 70 degrees. Evening temperatures will be in the lower 50s with clear skies.

Humidity levels will remain very low Wednesday and Thursday with afternoon dew points in the 40s. The dew point is a way of measuring how much moisture is in the air, and it’s a useful indicator of how humid it will feel. It will still feel comfortable Friday and Saturday with dew points close to 50. Dew point values will approach 60 on Sunday, so it will feel noticeably more humid then.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the middle 60s. Thursday is looking sunny all day, starting with early-morning low temperatures in the lower 40s, and afternoon highs will warm to the upper 60s. Friday will have a mix of sun and clouds with high temperatures near 70 degrees.
