Census deadline extended to October 31
ALPENA, Mich – The deadline for Michigan residents to respond to the 2020 census has now been extended from July 31 to October 31st.
While Michigan is one of the states with the highest response rate, apprehension about filling out the questionnaire may stem from people wondering if their information is secure.
Michigan Attorney, Dana Nessel, wants to remind everyone that consumer protection is top priority and assures that information is confidential and protected.
Any violation from bureau staff can result in a fine up to two hundred and fifty thousand dollars and or up to five years in jail.
It is also important that Michigan residents understand that filling out the census is critical especially now during the COVID–19 pandemic to ensure that federal funding is available to support public health and disease prevention in the future.
