Candidate for Governor Visiting Alpena in the Midst of Conspiracy Claims
Alpena- State Senator and candidate for governor Patrick Colbeck will host a meet and greet tomorrow night at Cabin Creek Coffee.
However, the 7th district representative is under hot water due to unproven claims that Michigan democratic candidate, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, could have links to the Muslim Brotherhood via his family from Egypt.
Colbeck is standing by the ideology of “civilization jihad.” The idea looks at Muslims attempting to change the government system and implementing sharia law once the religious group gains power.
How much do you know about the organization referred to as the Muslim Brotherhood? Read the Explanatory Memorandum entered as evidence in the Holy Land Foundation trial to learn more about what they refer to as "Civilization Jihad". https://t.co/aTp7Xh9jz6

Buzzfeed reported the comments on Tuesday night. A YouTube video from the group Sharia Crime Stoppers surfaced with Colbeck speaking at a “see something, say something” forum with Homeland Security Officer Phillip Haney, making these various statements about Sayed as well as discussing conspiracies.
According to the Detroit News, Michigan GOP Spokeswoman Sarah Anderson said, “if they are correct as to what Sen. Colbeck said, the party isn’t interested in peddling any conspiracy theories and anything he said was not on behalf of the party.”
Colbeck is set to meet folks at 7:00pm tomorrow night (4/26) at Cabin Creek Coffee in downtown.
