Canadian Pair takes the AuSable River Canoe Marathon
OSCODA,MI- The 74th annual AuSable river canoe marathon was won by a familiar name. Steve Lajoie and his partner Guillaume Blais took home the title with a final time of 14:36:17. For the Canadian Lajoie it his 12th title in 20 years competing at the event. His partner Blais, also from north of the border, it is his first marathon win.
Area team Wes Reid of Traverse City and Ryan Halstead of Grayling, finished as the runner ups. Just two minutes and 13 seconds behind the winning pair.
The event was sponsored for the 8th consecutive year by Consumers Energy. Preparations for the 75th anniversary event are already underway. The race will return next July.
