Brighter Wednesday, temperatures remain cool

Cloud cover will decrease Wednesday, giving way to mostly sunny skies. Thursday morning will start dry, then a weak disturbance will slide to our south. A few spotty showers will be possible Thursday afternoon with a combination of this disturbance passing by and also lake breezes off of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan interacting with each other.

High temperatures Tuesday reached 51 degrees in Alpena, 48 degrees in Traverse City, Michigan and 55 degrees in Grand Rapids, Michigan. These temperatures are running several degrees below normal for early May. Cool temperatures will continue over the next few days.

High temperatures will get into the middle 50s Wednesday afternoon. Thursday afternoon, temperatures will be near 50 degrees. Friday is looking a touch cooler with highs in the upper 40s to near 50. Friday’s temperatures will be very cool, more than 10 degrees below normal for early May. Highs will reach the lower 50s over the weekend.

Wednesday: Cloud cover early will give way to mostly sunny skies. Early-morning lows will head down to about 37 degrees. Afternoon highs will get close to 54 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool to the 40s.

Thursday: Partly cloudy with a chance of spotty showers in the afternoon. Predawn lows will drop to around 32 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach only about 50 degrees. Evening temperatures will be mainly in the 40s.

Friday: Mix of sun and clouds with a chance of spotty showers in the afternoon, remains cool. Early-morning temperatures will begin near 31 degrees. Afternoon highs will be close to 49 degrees. Evening temperatures will head into the 40s.
