Bright Weekend; Warmer Sunday

After the cold front that produced a few thunderstorms yesterday, temperatures have cooled down significantly. Today’s high temperatures reached only into the upper 70s, even a few degrees cooler along the shoreline south of Alpena.

The sunny skies will continue tomorrow, and highs will climb into the mid-80s, except at the shoreline. Winds will be light, initially out of the southwest, later shifting out of the southeast, about 5 mph.

Beachgoers will enjoy the bright sunshine and low wave heights this weekend. Saturday will be sunny with temperatures in the lower 70s at the immediate shoreline, and wind speeds will be around 10 knots.

Saturday will be the cooler day of the weekend, with early-morning low temperatures in the upper 40s, then warming up to 84 degrees in the afternoon. The temperatures will warm up further on Sunday, reaching a high of 88 degrees under sunny skies. Despite a low chance of rain Monday, temperatures will warm into the upper 80s prior to a weak cold front. That cold front will set high temperatures back into the lower 80s Tuesday afternoon.

For Saturday, it will feel chilly in the early-morning with a low of 47 degrees. The sunshine will help warm the temperatures into the 80s Saturday afternoon. Mostly sunny skies will shine on Sunday with highs in the upper 80s. A low chance of rain will enter the area on Monday though it will still be warm. Mostly sunny skies are forecast Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the lower 80s.
