Bright and cool Saturday; Warmer temperatures come back early next week

High temperatures in Northeast Michigan happened around sunrise. Although the high temperature map shows 40 degrees in Alpena, it was surely colder than that during the afternoon. The warmth in the Detroit area is moving away from Michigan, so don’t expect 60s around here. Instead, the air mass on the way will be similar to Minnesota’s temperatures today — a bit cool.

A cold front now through New York and Pennsylvania moved through our area last night. That cold front introduced a much colder air mass, and temperatures have been dropping all day. High pressure currently centered over North Dakota will move toward our area and bring clearing skies.

Overnight lows will cool to about 12 degrees and cloud cover will decrease. Saturday will start with chilly morning temperatures in the middle teens and mostly cloudy skies. High temperatures Saturday afternoon will be near 30 degrees with light winds, about 5 mph. Evening temperatures will be in the lower 20s.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs near 30 degrees. Cloud cover will increase Sunday afternoon and evening, highs will climb to the upper 30s. A mix of sun and clouds is expected Monday and temperatures will be warmer, getting up to 46 degrees. Highs will be in the middle to upper 40s Tuesday and Wednesday.
