Bright and Calm Thursday; Thunderstorm Chances Father’s Day Weekend

After a few showers and some rumbles of thunder, the skies have cleared over Northeast Michigan. Clear weather will continue tonight, and sunny skies will prevail tomorrow. The showers from this morning have now moved well south and east of the state, through parts of New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

After gusts close to 35 mph today, winds will ease tonight to about 10 mph. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the mid-70s closer to the shoreline and lower 80s inland.

The high temperature on Friday is forecast to reach 80 degrees with dry weather in the morning and afternoon. A breeze out of the south will heat up the temperatures and increase the humidity this weekend. Around Alpena, the weekend forecast calls for a high of 84 degrees on Saturday, 88 degrees on Sunday, and a couple of chances for thunderstorms.

The increase in humidity will feel uncomfortable for some this weekend. Tomorrow will be the least humid day of the forecast, and humidity levels will remain comfortable into Friday. After that, dew points near 70 will make it feel sticky over Father’s Day weekend.

Bright skies and comfortable temperatures are forecast tomorrow with a high of 78 degrees in Alpena. Most of Friday should remain dry, though clouds will increase late in the day leading to a chance of showers overnight. Saturday will probably start off stormy in the morning, then there should be a few hours of dry weather in the afternoon before another chance of showers/thunderstorms Saturday evening. On Father’s day, the temperature will soar to a muggy high of 88 degrees. The chance of thunderstorms will be more limited on Sunday, but plan on a pop-up shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.
