Breaks of sunshine Wednesday; Getting colder early Thursday

High temperatures today got up to 30 degrees in Alpena. Light winds out of the northwest helped knock temperatures down a couple degrees compared to yesterday. Tomorrow afternoon will follow a similar pattern with highs a couple degrees cooler. Notice the colder temperatures over Minnesota, where highs reached only 20 degrees in Duluth and Minneapolis — that colder air mass will travel through our area Wednesday night to early Thursday.

Low temperatures overnight will cool to the upper teens. Cloud cover should be a bit less tomorrow, some sunshine will mix with leftover clouds. Morning temperatures will be in the lower 20s, and afternoon highs will reach about 27 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday will be completely dry. The chance of flurries will begin to increase late Friday, and scattered snow/rain showers are in the forecast for Saturday. Precipitation amounts will be minor for the end of the week.

We will see a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday, and high temperatures will get into the upper 20s. Cooler low temperatures are expected early Thursday, starting near 14 degrees. Highs will get close to 30 degrees with increasing cloud cover on Thursday. Most of Friday should be dry, but a chance of flurries will move in Friday evening. High temperatures will climb to the middle 30s for the end of the week.
