Breaking News: Fire Leaves Residents in Senior Living Apartments Without a Home for Days

We have some breaking news to report.

Earlier today the carriage house senior living apartments were evacuated due to a fire on the second floor, leaving some residents without a home to go back to for days or possible weeks.

According to the City of Alpena Fire Chief, Bill Forbush two people were taken to the hospital for breathing problems…

Other residents were evacuated and sent outside to wait for clearance on four Thunder Bay Transportation Authority buses.

Alpena Township Fire Department, the Salvation Army, the city of Alpena Fire and Medic team, and the Alpena County Emergency Management team were all on site.

As of right now one wing of the apartment building is not livable.

Those residents were able to collect their animals and personal items and will be placed at day’s inn hotel for now.

The Emergency Management Team and the Salvation Army are currently working to find places to stay for others.

Some of the residents called family members and close friends to stay with.

According to Forbush the cause of fire is still under investigation.

WBKB News will update you as we get more details.
