Boys and Girls Club Alpena Get ‘Silly’ With String

To say thank you to donors for ‘Giving Tuesday,’ kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena served up some silly string.

For the first time ever, Executive Director, Brad Somers allowed over 60 kids to participate after reaching their donation goals.

“Our goal was $1,000 and we were able to raise $8,400 this year. We surpassed that goal quite a bit so the fun part is that the goal we were going to silly string the CEO here at the Boys and Girls Club and chief executive officer is me,” Somers said.

Without the community and funds, Somers said the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena wouldn’t be able to function.

“This makes so much of a big difference especially with goals that we have here at the Boys and Girls Club. We want to serve more kids, and with donations it really makes it possible to cater to more kids this time of year especially during the holidays, and to help provide meals for kids and of course it helps provides more education opportunities,” Somers said.
