Board Trustees move forward with tanker truck

ALPENA, Mich.— The Alpena Township Fire Department has recently submitted a proposal for a tanker truck. According to Township Fire Chief Dave Robbins, one of the aging tankers currently in use dates back to the late 80’s.

Because of its age, the fire committee has run into difficulties finding parts that will accommodate the current tanker. Getting a new truck will cost the township at least $200,000.

Chief Robbins said, “The fire committee is weighing all options before making a final decision.”

The decision to purchase a brand new truck or to replace the mounting equipment and tanker is still being discussed. The proposal will be reviewed by the Alpena Township Board of Trustees by the end of the month
