Board of Education meeting update

ALPENA, Mich. — Tonight the Alpena Board of Education held a meeting to discuss their progress on current mechanical systems, the results from the parent info webinar survey, and the extended COVID–19 learning plan.

The board discussed the completion of the re-piping of Thunder Bay Junior High School and the engineering of all of the boiler rooms which will be ready for implementation in the spring.

Alpena Public School’s Superintendent, David Rabbideau, said he received 314 parent responses about how to proceed with schooling should they remain in the current phase.  Rabbideau said the responses were a mixture of some parents wanting to transfer to remote learning and others wanting to maintain the current schedule.

Rabbideau also said they will be meeting monthly to discuss the extended COVID–19 learning plan on how instruction will be delivered.
