Blood drive scheduled for Friday July 16

ALPENA, Mich. – With several events beginning tomorrow, you could kickoff your weekend right by making a difference.

As blood supply is a major concern across the country, a blood drive is scheduled Friday July 16 in Alpena.

Versiti blood center of Michigan will host a drive at Word of Life Baptist Church at 1900 N. Bagley Street.

Versiti said as things get back to normal, it’s important to think about helping to replenish the supply.

“The pandemic is getting a little better; we’re getting back to a semi normal and I’m gonna go out and forget about donating blood,” said Versiti Centers of Michigan area Vice President Dawn Kaiser. “I’m going to go on vacation or get busy again and we’re still trying to get this on top of people’s mind because there’s no substitute for blood.”

Kaiser said the state is in need of O positive blood.

You can donate blood Friday at Word of Life Baptist Church from noon until 5:30 p.m.
