ALPENA, Mich.– A local business has reached a milestone.

The Black Sheep Pub in downtown Alpena turned ten years old Saturday. It celebrated its anniversary with live musicians and October-fest beers on tap. The pub opened in 2010 with a mere six beers on tap and a lunch menu. It has since expanded to include a full dinner menu with 15 beers.

Like any business, the pub faced some serious challenges this year from the coronavirus pandemic. However, takeout demand remained high, and the time without foot traffic actually allowed owner Kris Conger to get the original wooden floors restored.

Conger said she’s thankful for the community’s support over the years.

“I would really like to thank the community. My husband Paul and I have made wonderful friends over the years. And I just love seeing everybody. I don’t have one patron that I go ‘Ugh, that one again.’ I just love everybody who comes into the bar.”

Conger said she looks forward to many more years of serving up drinks for the community.
