Beaver Lake Park was open one last time before the winter kicks in hosting their 5th annual Harvest Fest.
This weekend over 100 families camped out at the park and enjoyed activities including a chili cook off, Halloween decoration contest, pumpkin carving, and more.
Park manager, Earl Martin said the park holds many events throughout the year to bring awareness to the Alpena County Park.
Martin said the Harvest Fest is one event he enjoys because it’s more than just a camping trip.
“It’s a lot of fun. That’s why we do special events. We started out right off the bat with events and we continued with them. People love the fact that we do something different. It’s not just come out and go camping they’ve got something to look forward to on a particular day,” Martin said.
Beaver Lake Park is trying to improve the park. Martin claims Alpena County parks don’t get utilized as much as could.
So far beaver lake park has received 4 tree donations, and a new airplane piece for kids.
The park is currently working on getting more playground equipment.
