ALPENA, Mich. – There’s only a few weeks left until the Bagley Street Bridge is scheduled for completion.
With just over 60 days left until the bridge completion date, work may look like its starting to slow down, but contractors are now working to form the bridge deck.
The the road commission said it isn’t an easy task.
“They’re taking care of whatever steps they need to, to get the bridge deck poured now and that’s quite a process because it’s such a large deck,” said Road Commission Manager Ryan Brege. “It takes time to get all the forms in place so they can pour the concrete because obviously between the beams you have to have a way to support the concrete so they have to put forms in between the beams that will sit on top of until it cures.”
Brege said the new bridge is scheduled to open to traffic on November 14.
