OSCODA, Mich. — Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of events have been canceled around the area. You can now add one more event to the list.
Earlier this week, organizers for the AuSable Canoe Marathon have decided to not hold the event in 2020. This is the first time in 50 years that the event has been canceled. The last time they had to cancel the event was in 1969 because of poor community support.
The canoe race is a big event for both Oscoda and Grayling’s economies as it brings in people from all around the world during the two-day event. Organizers believe it’s in the best interest not to hold the event in 2020.
