Art in the Loft hosts Kid in the Kitchen class to teach children how to make a practical meal

A local art gallery is bringing fun and functionality to the kitchen for a group of youngsters.

Art in the Loft held their Kids in the Kitchen class this afternoon, teaching the children how to prepare St. Patrick’s day themed meals and treats.

Education Coordinator, Amanda Kuznicki, says the class will teach the children how to make a practical meal independently.

“One of our goals this week is to really teach our cooking classes in the aspect where we go into the kitchen, see what’s there, and then prepare something. Now days a lot of parents work, and sometimes the kids are either in charge of making their own or just want to help out at home. Maybe there’s a multiple family, lots of kids and they can help out in this cooking class with their family.

The students prepared a number of items including st. Patrick’s day shakes, rainbow skewers and leprechaun sandwiches.

Arabella Nunez, a student in today’s class says, says she is excited to be participating in such a hands– on event.

“It’s good because they give you experience how to make all sorts of food.

When asked what she was looking forward to making, Arabella said,

“Well we so far we made this little shake, it’s graham crackers, pudding, and whipped cream.”
