Art in the Loft brings back summer classes

ALPENA, Mich. — With the easing of pandemic restriction, Art in the Loft has brought back its summer classes.

The art gallery had to cut its youth and adult programs last year to help with social distancing. However, things seem to be picking back up.

Cooking and art classes are available for kids, teens, and adults throughout the summer.

Education Coordinator Lane Blairolsen says kids in particular have been thrilled to be back together again.

“They looked like they thoroughly enjoyed it. They were pretty active and attentive. And they looked like they had a good time… We painted with squirt guns in the classroom and layered over with a couple of different pieces. Then in the kitchen we had octopi pizzas, shark bites, and watermelon fries with a special dip.”

There are still plenty of things for adults to do this summer, including a video fundamentals class, homemade tortilla lessons, and more.
