ALPENA, Mich. — Alpena parents have an opportunity to air their opinions next month.

Alpena Schools Superintendent David Rabbideau recently announced a town hall event for early August. He said discussion will likely revolve around issues residents mentioned during recent board of education meetings. That list of subjects includes critical race theory, mask policies, man–made climate change, and treatment of transgender students, among others.

Superintendent Rabbideau said he hopes the discussion will help him understand the community’s concerns.

“For me, this is a great opportunity to get out there and hear from people. And that’s my goal: to hear what’s on their minds and really narrow down overarching concerns to specific concerns they may or may not have with Alpena Public Schools is doing.”

Rabbideau added that he hopes this community discussion will be the first of several.

He will hold the event August 3, from 6 to 8 PM in the large commons room at Alpena High School. Everyone is welcome to join.
