APS Board of Education to Lose Two Members

Alpena Public Schools Board of Education may be losing two members. Richard Matteson is said to be stepping down today, stating that he is “simply tired”.

On the other hand, board member Maureen Meade may be forced to step down sometime in the future, due to her relocation to the Hubbard Lake area. Her new home will be located in Alcona County.

The terms of both Matteson and Meade run through the end of 2018. Final decisions will be made tonight at 7pm. The school board will have 30 days to fill the seats once they become available.

Applicants will likely be solicited, followed by interviews. There is no pay for serving as a school board member.
