Annual Zonta Club Run registration open

ALPENA, Mich.– The Zonta Club of Alpena has opened registration for their annual 5K run.

The club is part of the larger group known as Zonta International, which advocates for women’s health and economic and social progress. Their annual run, which is normally held on the first Saturday in October, will be taking a digital form this year because of the pandemic.

After registering, participants can follow the normal 5K route, starting at the N.O.A.A. building, on a day of their choice, or take a simple walk based on their comfort level. They are encouraged to post photos or videos on social media to help spread breast cancer awareness.

Club president Eileen Budnick has information about how to register.

“We are accepting registration through October 9. And we both collect registrations online through our Zonta Club of Alpena website, and also there will be some walk in, in–person registration available at Thunder Bay Accounting located on State Street here in Alpena.”

Last year, the run raised over $20,000 in donations for various women’s cancer services in the community.

The run will begin on October 10. Registration is ten dollars.
