Alpena’s strong fourth quarter secures win over TC West

ALPENA — The Wildcats won a thriller against Traverse City West as they improve to 8-1 on the season with a 3-1 record in the Big North Conference. The loss drops TC West to 3-6 overall with a 1-2 record in the BNC.
The Wildcats and Titans played as equals in the first half, with TC West holding a steady two or four point lead while taking a 27-25 lead into halftime. Alpena managed to pull within one, but still trailed 40-39 heading into the fourth.
Alpena seniors Chris DeRocher and Bruz Copping took over the Wildcat offense in the fourth. Copping scored 12 points in the quarter while DeRocher added 9 as Alpena ran away with the 58-50 victory.
