Alpena’s Skiba spikes her way to ACC

ALPENA, Mich. — Alpena Community College volleyball head coach Sarah Parsons has another Alpena native that will be joining her squad. Beginning this fall, Kate Skiba will be taking her talents to the Ladyjacks. Monday evening, Skiba signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic and academic career. As soon as Skiba finished her final season with the Wildcats, she shifted her focus on taking her volleyball skills to the next level.

“At the end of my senior season, I was approached and asked to scrimmage with the ACC team,” said Skiba. “They asked me if I wanted to join the team next year and that’s when I decided that it’s a possibility I can do it.”

Skiba played three seasons of varsity volleyball for the Wildcats. In her junior and senior seasons, she earned all-conference and all-region honors for her stellar play on the court. In addition, she earned academic all-state for her efforts in the classroom. At this time, Skiba will be focusing on her general studies at ACC. However, she has an interest in studying Health Management.
