Alpena Wound Treatment Center receives donation
ALPENA, Mich. — The Wound Treatment Center at Alpena’s MidMichigan Medical Center recently underwent some surgery of it’s own thanks to a generous donation.
MidMichigan Health Foundation gave 5,000 dollars to the treatment center so patients and families could be comfortable when waiting for loved ones. The center’s Program Director Sally Ann Whitener said the conversation to upgrade happened over a tour, coffee and donuts. Whitener said when Fund Development Director Ann Diamond saw the waiting room, she felt it needed livening up. Diamond said often times they get grateful patients who want to give donations and for this reason, they have funds available for distribution when there is a need. Diamond added that the donut may have helped.
The change to the waiting room happened about one week ago. So far they have freshly painted walls, a few chairs, candles, a plant and a television. Whitener said they are planning to add diving pictures and other items to add to the ambiance.
