ALPENA, MI – The Wildcats came back into Alpena after an absolute blowout win on the road on Friday. The very next day, Alpena’s opponent back at northern ice area was the same team the Wildcats destroyed last night, the Gaylord Blue Devils. After losing 9–1 in their first meet, you could expect the Blue Devils looking to get a quick and satisfying revenge win. but Alpena was prepared to make sure that didn’t happen.

First period, Alpena off the faceoff and on the power play. Anden Marceau fighting for the puck but sliding in is the Captain Matt Thompson, one shot, one goal. The Wildcats on the board first with that great goal from the faceoff.

Next up, Colton Hurst, the Gaylord Captain, with no one around him has the breakaway chance to just barely get the puck behind the goalie and the Blue Devils tie this one up.

Alpena now tries to clear away the puck but Gaylord recovers it. Hurst gets it over to Issac Hopp and he scores. Alpena now heading into the second period down by one.

Next up Brody Thompson takes a shot that’s saved by the goalie but on the rebound it’s Cameron Young. He skates right around him and fires it into the back of the net. It’s tied up 2–2 now.

Now in the neutral zone it’s Anden Marceau skating through the defense. He dishes it over to the Freshman Reid Meinhardt right up the middle and he scores. Reid with his first goal as a Wildcat and Alpena has regained the lead.

Third period now. Reid Meinhardt again with it down the left hand side. He’s gonna fire an off-balance shot but it still goes in. Reid with two goals tonight as the Wildcat lead grows.

Now the Gaylord defense tries to pass it around but Marceau with the steal right in front of the goal, he fires and he scores. He’d been assisting all game long and now he finally gets a goal for himself.
