Alpena welcomes new first responders

ALPENA, Mich. — Four firefighters and one policeman took their oaths of office to serve the City of Alpena on Monday afternoon.

The City of Alpena Fire Department welcomed four new Firefighter/EMT’s to their team today in a ceremony that involved comments from Mayor Waligora and County Chairman Robert Adrian. Cain Makowski, a former paid-on-call firefighter with Presque Isle Township who Forbush called one of the township’s most active members, was first sworn in.

Following Makowski was two recent retirees of the Alpena Township Fire Department, Ken Piper and Bruce Honeycutt. Also joining from the township’s fire department is their former paid-on-call firefighter Kevin Galloway, who is being provided his paramedic education from the city’s department this spring.

The Alpena Police Department today also swore in a new member. Chase Beauvais, a recent graduate from the Police Academy at Kirtland Community College was sworn in by Police Chief Joell Jett.
