Alpena track and field Woods Club athletes place at indoor state meet

Alpena Wildcats place at indoor state track meet before spring season.

Ypsilanti, Mich. — The Woods Track Club competed at the indoor state meet this past week. A great way for the Alpena Wildcats to stay focused before entering the spring outdoor season. Gabe Bullis pole vaulted a personal best finishing second. Zachary Zaborney, University of Detroit Mercy signee, placed second in triple jump and 11th in long jump. He jumped 2.25″ shy of his personal best in triple jump, an event that’s only in outdoor track and field for high school athletes in Michigan.

“We have a lot of good athletes this year,” said Zaborney. “Upper classmen are really good this year, so I think we can really compete against all the other schools around here and everywhere else in the state.”

Michigan State signees Aden and Josh Smith finished third and fourth in the 1600 meter run.
