ALPENA, Mich. – Alpena Township Fire Chief Dave Robbins will part ways with the fire department.

The board discussed the need to advertise the upcoming vacancy immediately.

“I guess I want to make a motion to begin advertising for a fire chief immediately on indeed, on our website, said Alpena Township Clerk Michele Palevich.”

In a letter to the board, Robbins wrote:

“It has been a privilege to serve as the chief for the fire department and I want to thank you for that opportunity. However, in the best interest of the department moving forward I feel a fresh perspective and new leadership is needed, therefore I am resigning from my position as Chief as of August 31, 2021. Thank you for the time I was able to serve the citizens of the township and work with an outstanding group of fire/EMS personnel.”
