Alpena shuts out Cadillac in game one of home opener

Alpena's Meghan Roznowski hits 3-run homer against Cadillac.

Alpena, Mich. — The Alpena Wildcats softball team hosted the Cadillac Vikings for their home opener. The bats got hot for Alpena in game one starting in the second inning. The Wildcats took the 1-0 lead after an RBI by Corine Donajkowski. Then with two outs on the board, Alpena added seven more runs for the 8-0 lead at the end of the inning.

Meghan Roznowski started the second inning momentum with a double. Then Donajkowski sent her home with an RBI single, which came with an error at first. Maddy Saddler, Abbie Funk, Emma Fraser and Allie Funk added RBI’s including Roznowski’s three-run homer.

Alpena would go on to win game one 11-o. They would sweep the series with a 18-11 game two victory.

The Wildcats are now (9-5) overall and (4-0) in the Big North Conference.
