Alpena road commission provides updates for current and future projects

ALPENA, Mich. -The Alpena County Road Commission held their monthly meeting via zoom this Tuesday and updates were provided on the different projects on hold and currently in the works.

According to Managing Director, Ryan Brege, ongoing work includes grading gravel roads on streets that are damaged.

Some projects that began in 2019 such as the Wolf Creek and Hubert Road upgrade are expected to wrap up by the end of May 2020

The Ossineke bridge project is expected to be complete in August of 2020.

The project placed on hold was the Bagley Street bridge rehabilitation project which will open back up in construction year 2021.

This decision was made after it was decided to either close the bridge for one year or maintain traffic on the bridge which would extend the project beyond two years.

Ryan also said that all road commission crews are practicing social distancing and wearing the proper PPE while contractors are responsible for their own COVID–19 plans and methods of working.
