Alpena preparing to host 47th annual Brown Trout Festival

ALPENA, Mich. — Fishing boats fill the docks at Alpena Boat Harbor just days before the 47th Annual Michigan Brown Trout Festival kicks off.

The festival itself begins Friday night with the Alpena Buick GMC kick-off party in the Alpena Buick GMC Small Tent.

Both the big tent and small tent are back this year, with events each day, and family day occurring in the Suez Big Tent on Sunday.

Fishing begins on Saturday, July 17. Two new tournaments are coming to the Brown Trout Festival as well. The First Annual Three-Day High Stakes Tournament begins on Saturday. The Youth Big Water tournament is in its first year as well, and that tournament is Wednesday, July 21.
