Alpena Power crews working overtime to restore service to impacted areas

ALPENA, Mich.  — Alpena Power Company said as a result of the winter storm that impacted the area Saturday, customers are experiencing a very large volume of power outages affecting all parts of its electric service territory.

Areas hardest hit by the storm include all areas along the east shore including Old Railroad Grade Rd, Monaghan Point Rd, Huron Beach Rd, El Cajon Beach Rd, Lappan Rd, North Point Rd, Misery Bay Rd, North Point Shores Dr, and the area south of Nicholson Hill Rd from US-23 South all the way west to Bartz Rd.

Alpena Power Company said its service crews have been working on service restoration activities since Saturday morning and will continue to work in those areas through Sunday however, due to the sheer volume of outages that have been reported, not all customers will be back in service by the end of Sunday.

Alpena Power urges anyone with a medical condition that depends on electric service (on oxygen, etc) to make alternate arrangements for power with family or friends to insure the continuation of your medical needs.  All other customers affected by the storm should have a plan in place for tonight and Monday in the event that service is not able to be restored to your home by Sunday night.
