Alpena on track for growth

ALPENA, Mich. – Alpena economic experts say the city is on track to see some growth.

Mike Mahler of Target Alpena presented some of the organizations current goals and projects they’re involved with to the township’s Board of Trustees Tuesday.

He said there are several projects in the works. These projects will bring several benefits to residents.

“Most of these projects for the most part will employ local contractors and put local people to works here on projects and obviously it’s a big win for the area,” said Mahler.

Mahler said there are talks to bring a second hotel to Downtown Alpena.

He said he’s working with a developer who’s shown interest, and they are currently working on logistics.

Mahler also mentioned that the expansion to MidMichigan Medical Center is a driving force in bringing in more businesses to the area.
